Product Description
Epic manufactures stud wall systems and trusses out of light-gauge steel according to your architectural plans. The light-gauge steel is quite different from the thick red iron beams that are brought to mind when one considers steel construction. Our steel is made to the exact same width and depth as traditional lumber 2x4 or 2x6 inch timbers, however, we can fabricate the steel to any length you require.
“Steel….Feel the Strength”. Unsurpassed in quality, steel is strong, quiet, fireproof, and best of all, affordable. Whether your project is commercial or residential, steel is increasingly becoming the product of choice.
Steel Wall Systems
Our light-gauge steel wall systems can be constructed from any blueprint. They are fabricated and pre-assembled in our shop for delivery in sections to your job site.
Steel Floor Trusses
Our steel floor trusses with our custom-engineered web construction allow for the greatest design flexibility and strongest support compared to more conventional construction options.
Optional Wood Wall Systems and Roof Trusses
At Epic, we offer a limited availability of roof trusses and wall systems made from lumber.

Steel Wall Systemsreturn
What do we mean by “wall system”? At Epic, we take your blueprints and create a set of shop plans for our wall layout designers so we can begin construction in our production plant. Our expert crews take giant rolls of galvanized steel and roll it into steel studs. The studs are then made into individual wall “panels” that correspond to the different wall heights and openings in your blueprints. All of these wall panels become part of your steel building system. Once all of your walls have been pre-constructed in our plant, we load them onto a truck and deliver them right to your construction site! All wall panels are labeled with a number that corresponds to your shop plan, so all you have to do is “tip-up” our walls and secure them to the foundation.
Epic’s steel wall system varies in size and gauge of steel depending on wall position in your architectural design. Exterior walls are usually 2 inches by 6 inches and constructed from the stronger 18-gauge steel. Interior walls (non-load-bearing) are 2 inches by 4 inches and constructed from 22-gauge steel. Most load-bearing walls are constructed with 16-gauge steel while walls that contain plumbing are made with 18-gauge 2x6 steel. Epic maintains the exact same measurements you find with lumber studs at 1½ “ x 3½” for our 2x4 inch walls and 1½” x5½” for our 2x6 inch walls. This allows for a perfect fit for any standard doors or windows. All studs are pre “punched” for electrical wires to be fed so the electrician has minimal holes to drill.
If you use our steel floor trusses in conjunction with our steel wall systems, you can put both the walls and trusses 24 inches on center rather than the conventional 16 inches on center required for lumber. This can add up to considerable cost savings! Note: If you choose to use lumber “I” joists (required to be 16 inches on center) with our steel wall systems, we have to construct your steel walls to also be 16 inches on center because the wall studs must match the floor joists.

Steel Floor Trussesreturn
Epic floor trusses are made using a unique “possi strut” design cut from a die purchased exclusively for Epic Building Systems. The top and bottom cord (upper and lower rails)are made from strong 16-gauge steel. Put together you have a stronger, quieter and longer lasting product. The “possi strut” web was designed by an engineer to handle larger loads and have greater design flexibility. We wanted a universal system so we would not have to go back to an engineer every time we wanted to embark on a new project. The Epic Floor Truss is approved by Underwriters Laboratories under Category code CJFS and file number R18899. You can check this certification at www.UL.com. This certification assures strength and fire safety for use in residential and commercial applications.
If used in conjunction with our steel wall systems, the Epic Truss is set at 24 inches on center, saving hundreds of dollars compared to the wood “I” joist which has to be set at 16 inches on center. So remember, when you are comparing prices of steel trusses to wood “I” joists, you will need to order 33% more wood joists than steel trusses to do the same job!

Optional Wood Wall Systems and Roof Trussesreturn
Epic’s wood wall system is laid out in the same way as our steel systems, using quality wood products instead of steel. These also have to be laid out on 16 inch centers, requiring more material, more labor, and more delivery costs. This option is for the contractor or homeowner who wants the cost savings of having the walls pre-built with no waste but cannot meet the higher costs sometimes associated with steel. Keep in mind, however, the slightly higher costs of steel can most often be offset by the sharp reduction in the amount of steel compared to the amount of lumber required for the same project.
Epic Building Systems does not currently construct roof trusses, however, we routinely work with several reliable truss companies who manufacture steel or wood roof trusses. We can provide you the convenience of ordering all of your framing materials and trusses together as a package. Our project foreman can coordinate delivery times as well as schedule a site visit by one of our qualified tip up contractors if you get stuck and need some help. We won’t sell you a package and leave before you are completely satisfied with your product. We would like to do as much as we can to help make your next project as hassle-free as possible!
